Success Story - Daisy Hill

We are a family of five that were looking for a tree change from the hustle and bustle of city living. There is myself Alarna, Hubby Tom and the three munchkins Bailee-Jane, Thomas-Jnr & Felicity-Jane. Tired of paying dead money in high priced renting, unable to enjoy our income as it went to rent and childcare! And then we found Tullamore, where our dreams of country living became more of a reality.

The house we moved into required quite a bit of a facelift, having been vacant for some number of years, and we are slowly making progress. When we first moved in, we had no kitchen! But within a few short weeks a friendly local of Trundle was here to help us put it together :) We have found that the community of rural living just amazing, from strangers lending their car when ours broke down, to people lending their hands and donating unused furniture and actually honestly just caring about your families wellbeing, this came to us as a very refreshing change of lifestyle and made our move much easier to settle in and become welcomed locals.

Big Tom has found finding work easier than originally thought, with just a few poster ads looking for farmhand work found himself busy enough to be happy. I am able to stay at home with the kids which was impossible living in the city! I have also just recently taken on the position of Tullamore Little Athletics, Vice President and Promotions Officer, which i think is a fantastic organisation for the children in town to be involved in as this promotes fitness, well being and personal achievement, hence Bailee & Tommy are both involved. The children love living in the country, so many opportunities and such a different lifestyle for them. They have pet goats, chooks, a lamb, 4 dogs and 2 cats, again something that is not possible in the city! Bailee attends Tullamore Central School and fitting in was easy, the students were excited another family had moved to Tullamore :) Bailee also started her first dancing lessons in Tullamore with RSCN which she and her fellow dancing students absolutely love. Tommy has just begun Pre-School in Tullamore, catching the bus with his big sister to get there and back home again is very exciting for him and he enjoys the learning experience and socialising with his own friends. Little Flick is at home with me at the moment, but very jealous that her big brother now goes to school and she has to stay home! Felicity is probably the most local as she has spent the most of her life out here (in comparison to the rest of the family), We made the big move when she was only 5 months old, and just next month she will be turning 2!

We have now been living in Tullamore for one and a half years, and can not ever imagine moving back to the big smoke! So a big thank you to the Tullamore Inc, Trundle Tree Change, Paul and Kelly Curr and everyone who made us feel welcomed! We are very happy and proud to be here.
